The Tiffany Invention Demonstration by Sarah Segovia
Jul 11, 2013
5:30 pm until 8:00 pm
Join artist Sarah Segovia as she reveals the distinctive techniques used by Louis Comfort Tiffany and his colleagues to produce the complex stained glass designs as seen in the recent exhibition The Brilliance of Louis Comfort Tiffany: Painter and Craftsman. Segovia will demonstrate the unique copper foil method used by this famous artist to create the intricate stained glass designs seen in Tiffany’s famous lampshades and windows.
Segovia, Bristol born Connecticut native, received her BFA in Painting from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford. After moving to New Orleans and starting her own stained glass business, she began teaching stained glass to children and adults at the New Orleans School of Glassworks and the New Orleans School of Art and Design. She returned to Connecticut after twelve years and now continues to teach, design and create stained glass artwork. We are pleased to welcome a practiced artist like Segovia to teach our guests the complex workings behind stained glass.
