Sunday, March 10 WHS/WLA Matthew Warshauer: Andrew Jackson—Hero or Despot at Wilton Historical Society, 4 – 5:30 p.m. Professor Matthew Warshauer returns to the area to shed some light on the 7th President of the United States Andrew Jackson. Was he a masterful politician who ushered in a new era of democratic politics or a loose cannon with no vision for the American republic. In his latest book, Andrew Jackson in Context, Prof. Warshauer examines differing perspectives on the subject. Warshauer has been a popular guest speaker in two previous Wilton Historical Society/Wilton Library scholarly lecture series. He is a Professor of History at Central Connecticut State University and author of Andrew Jackson and the Politics of Martial Law. See Wilton Library’s website for speaker details.
