DR. JUDITH GORELICK graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in neuroscience. She earned her degree from New York University School of Medicine. She did her internship in surgery and residency in neurosurgery at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor. She has been named one of the top 40 female spine surgeons to know in the country. Dr. Gorelick specializes in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery and brain and pituitary surgery. Neurosurgery, she says, “is as much an art as a science - so much depends on listening to the patient and understanding their goals.” She notes that excellence in surgery relies on careful preoperative planning coupled with technical precision in the operating room.
DR. JOHN STRUGAR graduated with a B.A. in chemistry from New York University and NYU School of Medicine. He did his internship in surgery and residency in neurosurgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital and fellowship in skull base surgery at George Washington University Medical Center. He specializes in spine surgery, including complex fusions and arthroplasty, and intracranial trauma and tumors. He notes that while Connecticut’s population is ageing, people are living healthier and longer and can expect to remain active. To achieve meaningful longevity, brain and spine care need to be carefully balanced between surgical interventions and a more holistic approach. The latest advances in technology are making surgery safer, faster and more precise than ever, leading to better outcomes.
