DR. MARK SHEKHMAN earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. He did his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of British Columbia and completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction and hip and knee replacement at the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City.
Dr. Shekhman performs minimally invasive and robotic surgery including total hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, hip resurfacing, and complex revision total joint replacement. As one of the first surgeons in Connecticut to perform same day outpatient total hip replacements, Dr. Shekhman has led the advancement of hip and knee replacement same day surgery. Focusing on optimizing safety and outcomes, Dr. Shekhman continues to work on improving the joint replacement experience and making it easier for his patients to go through.
“For me, seeing my patients go from being disabled with arthritis to walking and enjoying their lives again is incredibly gratifying,” he says, “I’ve been a part of giving them their mobility back.”
