The coronavirus pandemic has taken away yet another local music venue.
The Acoustic Cafe, located at 2926 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport, announced Thursday that it would be closing its doors for good after "the cost of overhead and the uncertainty of what business will look like" due to the ongoing pandemic.
"We'd like to thank everyone for all of the love and support over our 20 years," said a statement on the venue's Facebook page. "The experience of connecting with you all and the community through art and music has truly been a blessing."
The venue, in its statement, also expressed interest in having someone either purchase the venue, or rent the space.
Despite the news, the Acoustic will still be hosting two livestreams over the weekend. The Breakfast, a local, veteran jam band, will perform on Friday, May 29 and on Saturday, May 30, the Acoustic will host an "Open Mic Family Jam."
The Acoustic has been a staple in the local music community for the past 20 years. The venue has hosted the likes of many now-prominent musicians such as John Mayer, Big Something, and Goose.
