Olde Mistick Village, Mystic

From City Life to Outdoor Escapes, Our Little State Is Loaded With Fun and Beautiful Places

What makes a town great? Perhaps it’s a bounty of high-quality restaurants. Others would cite the presence of a lovely, walkable downtown. The outdoors enthusiast would likely say a town must have wild, open spaces fit for all manner of play. Still others would stress the importance of a lively arts, culture and entertainment scene.

We say it is all of these things, and more. While it might be too much to expect all of these features to be found in a single town or city, many places across Connecticut shine brightly with one or many of them.

Here we explore our favorite towns, cities and villages, focusing on those that excel in these characteristics: a varied and friendly downtown district, foodie paradises, top shopping destinations, seaside pearls, arts and culture havens, hopping nightlife and music scenes, and spectacular offerings for outdoor adventures.

No two towns are the same — especially in Connecticut — so follow the links to take a tour with us and find out which suit your particular tastes.
