The Cromwell Historical Society’s 2019 Christmas Open House, Glad & Golden Hours: Christmas of the Victorians, is a celebration of Victorian Christmas traditions.  Members of the Cromwell Historical Society along with guest organizations will fill the house with 19th century holiday spirit.  The Friends of the Cromwell Belden Library will offer literary visions of the season with Victorian Christmas Books in the Sitting Room.  The Cromwell High School History Club will enhance visitors’ understanding of the Victorian Era with a visual timeline of the Queen’s reign in the Music Room while young pianists perform music of the holiday. Two brand new organizations will be participating this year:  The Cromwell Creative District will display Christmas ornamentation featuring the Victorian homes of Cromwell’s Main Street in the Ranney Library and the neighborhood’s KCALLM Book Club will enhance the Frisbie Bedroom with scenes from Clement Moore’s A Visit from Saint Nicholas.  Juleps & Viragoes, the Society’s Living History department, will greet visitors in the Parlor in 19th Century attire. Complimentary refreshments will be served in the Dining Room amidst a display of Victorian Christmas Cards and the Gift Shop will be well stocked with gifts of the season, books of Cromwell history, and products of local artisans.  Visit during the evening hours on the 14th to experience the grand Illumination of the outside of the house with candles and lanterns.  Open hours are Saturday, December 14th from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8, and Sunday, December 15th from 1 to 4.
