The inaugural writer for the Study Hotels Writer-in-Residence program, Julie Buntin, will read from her first novel, Marlena, and share insights on the publishing industry.

Julie will discuss the ins and outs of the publishing process, drawing on her experience acquiring fiction and nonfiction for award-winning literary press Catapult, where her authors include Nicole Chung, Amy Kurzweil, and Jess Arndt. Buntin will break down the differences between Big Five and small press publishing, covering topics like finding an agent, how to submit, and strategies for honing your craft and making a name for yourself as a writer. Bring your curiosity - this is an interactive talk, and questions from the audience are welcome and encouraged.
