It’s that time of year again: eating out in restaurants decked out for the holidays, some garland around the doorway, maybe a tree and some poinsettias on the table.

And then there is Cava Restaurant in Southington, where each of its dining rooms and its bar are dressed in over-the-top, decked-out décor, a tradition that has made it a must-go destination for diners in the mood for a side of seasonal creativity.

Fashioned by Tony Papahristou, whose family owns the West Street eatery with Italian fare, the lavish decorations have drawn attention from New York City window designers who have offered jobs to the 20-something because his work is so impressive.
