The Simsbury Flea and Smorgasbord is scheduled for April 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While visiting several flea markets and food festivals throughout New England, Tamara Braz always felt something was missing. “And then, like the Reese’s ad with the chocolate and the peanut butter, I thought, I’ll put these two together,” Braz says. “I also wanted to create an event where people could come and spend the day and bring the whole family.”

She’s done just that. Come April 27, the Simsbury Flea & Smorgasbord, a jam-packed day filled with treasures, music and delicious things, opens for its fourth year since its founding by Braz. It will be held at the Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine.

It’s a family affair with an outdoor market featuring antiques, home and garden decor, artwork, crafts and handmade jewelry. For the kids, there’s a photo booth, inflatables and face painting. And, for the bellies, there will be a farmers market, and several food trucks will be in attendance, including Whey Station, Cousins Maine Lobster, Christie Caters Farm to Truck, Mercado Spanish Cuisine, Greekin’ Out, Ultimate BBQ, as well as those offering dessert.

In addition, live local music features the pop and modern duo Patrick & Kate and classic rock, country and pop from DenMar Jamz.

The market also supports many artisan vendors, giving them free space for the day to display their wares. And a special raffle will benefit the Canton-based nonprofit Dog Star Rescue.

Tickets are $5, kids under 12 get in free, and parking is free. | |
